8: 2nd Grade Field
Trip: We have scheduled a
field trip to The Indianapolis Children’s Museum for May 8th.
PTO has paid for part of this trip, but we still need to collect
$5.00 from each student to cover the rest.
Please send that in any time.
We cannot accept checks for this trip. Standard Skills
: We
will be working on Indiana standards skills each afternoon from 2 – 3
P.M. The skills we are
working with in Second Grade this week are: 2.2 Reading
Comprehension, 2.5 Measurement of Time and Money, 2.5 Writing Process and
Applications, 2.4 Science, The Living Environment. Congratulations to Cara for earning her Chocolate Bar in Rocket Math last week. She is now working on multiplication. Great work, Cara! Dates

22 Last Day for students Week in Review: Reading:
We will be reading a story called From
Seed to Plant from our red Tiger readers.
We will be reading diagrams and sequencing the story for
comprehension. It will take us two weeks to complete this story. Don’t
forget to study vocabulary each night!
The test over this story will be on Wednesday this week.. Spelling:
Our new words are being sent home today.
A practice test will be on Wed. and the final test will be on
Friday. No challenge words
are offered this week. Math:
We are working on solid shapes this week. These are: The test over
this chapter will be on Friday. English:
We continue to work on parts of speech.
We are also working on Vowel/Consonant/Vowel words for dividing
words into syllables. Science:
Our plants are coming along great.
The students have planted and we are seeing our plants grow before
our very own eyes. We are
learning about pollination this week. The
following students read, logged, and have completed their skills sheet
over the story Shoes Around the World on their reading logs this
past week. SUPER JOB!
We are all working on our incentive to visit the pool in May. This
week’s skill for Reading logs will be Reading Comprehension Describing
and How do you know along with the story Anna
and the Magic Coat. Car
