Hi! My
name is Jennifer DeArmitt. I would like to share with you a
brief summary of my life.
I
grew up right here in Shelby County, where I lived on my parents'
farm. I attended Southwestern Elementary and High School and had a great time participating in sports such as basketball,
volleyball, softball, and track. Playing the trumpet in the
band was another highlight of my school days. In the summer
time, I enjoyed life guarding and teaching swimming lessons.
Following
high school, I attended Northern Kentucky University for two
years. Then transferred to Franklin
College to finish my education degree. I've always loved
helping children learn. So I was excited to become a teacher.
After
graduation, I taught kindergarten for one year at a private school
in Greenwood. The next fall, I was hired at Break-O-Day Elementary
in New Whiteland where I taught first and second grades for six
years.
Meanwhile,
while attending Franklin College, I met the man I married. He attended Indiana
University Law
School after graduating from Franklin College. We have three
children. Our daughter is seven years old, and our sons are three
and one. They keep us hopping!
Three
years ago, my husband and I built a home on my parents' nearby
farm. I taught one year of fourth grade and a year in second
grade at Southwestern Elementary School.
And
now... here I am at Coulston Elementary. It's a fantastic school full of
teachers and staff that are truly dedicated to each and every
student. What a wonderful place to be! I
love my job and I'm looking forward to helping children learn
and grow for many years to come.
