Ryan Mikus is a born and raised Hoosier, growing up in multiple parts of Indiana. He has seen the far north in Kankakee Valley, south in New Harmony and central in Connersville and Winchester, Indiana.  He settled in central Indiana by attending Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a concentration in science, as well as, a Middle School/Junior High Science endorsement. Ryan received his Masters Degree In Educational Leadership from IUPUI in the summer of 2007. 

Before coming to the great Shelbyville Central School Corporation Ryan taught as well as coached in the Metropolitan School District of Washington Township and Indianapolis Public Schools. He is a veteran 7th grade girl’s basketball coach as well as Girl’s track and field throws coach for North Central High School.  He is proud to have had state contender throwers in all years of his tenure.  During Ryan’s teaching career he was nominated for Indianapolis Public Schools Teacher of the Year in 2001-02, and was Eastwood Middle School's teacher of the year for 2005-2006.  

            Ryan is happily married to his wife, Natasha who is also a school administrator. They live in Indianapolis and as of this summer, they are proud parents of a daughter, Abigail Lorraine, who is almost four months of age. 

            Ryan has found a new home at Coulston Elementary. The most exciting part for him has been working with the Coulston faculty and staff, students, and community. Ryan’s contributions to ISTEP achievement, School Improvement, along with student and family involvement will continue to make Coulston Elementary a great place for learning.
