Mr. Hopkins’ 3rd Grade Spelling Contract

Each week, you have the OPTION to complete this spelling contract. It will count for up to 3 points extra credit. You must complete the Must Do’s and you should choose 1 of the Free Choice Items.  A Parent must sign the contract once you have completed the assignments. Please turn in all completed work with the contract on Thursday. Remember, that if you lose your spelling contract the words are posted on the class website. Happy Spelling!!!

Must Do’s (These must be turned in on Thursday.)

_______1. Write each word 2 times in color, print, or cursive.

_______2. Write the words in ABC order.

Free Choice (Be sure to mix it up so each week is different.)

These items must be turned in by Thursday. I can’t wait to see the projects that you will share with me.

_______1. Write the definition of each word.

_______2. Write a story using all of your words.

_______3. Make a word search or crossword puzzle with all of your words.

_______4. Make a poster of words with illustrations (pictures of each word).

_______5. Write a poem using all of your words.

_______6. Make flash cards with illustrations (pictures of each word).

_______7. Cut letters from a newspaper or magazine to make words and

        glue them on paper.

_______8. Write each word backwards and forwards.

_______9.  Put each of the spelling words on index cards (make 2 for each

                   word). Shuffle the deck, turn the cards over so the words are not

                   showing and play concentration.

_______10.Bend pipe cleaners to form the letters in each word.

_______11.Write each word correctly in a complete sentence.

_______12.Write a T.V. commercial using at least 7 of your words.

_______13.Write jokes or riddles with at least 10 of your words.
