A Broad Overview

Participation

Provide opportunities for SHS students through "20" IHSAA Sanctioned sports and cheerleading.
(Baseball, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Cheerleading, Boys Cross Country, Girls Cross Country, Football, Boys Golf, Girls Golf, Gymnastics, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Softball, Boys Swimming, Girls Swimming, Boys Tennis, Girls Tennis, Boys Track, Girls Track, Volleyball, Wrestling).
Teams - including freshman, junior varsity and varsity squads, SHS provides "37" teams for students to have the opportunity to participate.
Number of student-athletes participating annually on all SHS teams averages 500.
Contests -SHS athletic teams are annually scheduled to play in nearly 500 regular season contests, hosting approximately half of these events in the athletic facilities at SHS.

Facilities

Over the years, SHS has earned the reputation, locally, regionally and statewide, of having excellent facilities. This is best demonstrated by the numerous IHSAA events that SHS has hosted in recent years. Some of these IHSAA Tournament events include: Boys Tennis, Football, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Wrestling, Girls Track, Boys Track, Baseball, Softball and Girls Tennis.
The recent addition ofthe auxiliary gym has enhanced countless opportunities for student­athletes, which include the weight room, training room, wrestling room and 3 divided gym courts.
It is estimated that approximately 80,000 spectators attend numerous regular season, IHSAA athletic and community events annually at SHS.

Booster Club

The Shelbyville Golden Bear Booster Club is a very active and productive organization that supports all of the sports programs at SHS. Its 200 plus members aid the Athletic teams in a variety of ways which include:

Purchasing Athletic Achievement Awards for all sports Granting Academic Scholarships
Producing All Sport Game Programs
Providing concession workers
Organizing Market Day Fundraiser
