About the SHS CounselorsMs. Badgero: Counselor for Students A-F Ms. Badgero went to high school in Michigan and then attended college at the University of Michigan. She later went to IUPUI for her master's degree in Counseling Education. Her high school counselor was an influential person in her life and helped make her decision to become a guidance counselor. This is Ms. Badgero's 6th year as a counselor at SHS and her favorite thing about her occupation is that she enjoys working with the students, helping them solve problems, and communicating/coordinating with parents, faculty, and administration. When she is not at work she takes pleasure in reading and spending time with her husband and three children. Before she was a guidance counselor she was a Spanish teacher for 11 years in Texas and here in Indiana. Ms. Ulloa: Counselor for Students G-M Ms. Ulloa went to high school at Taylor High School in Kokomo, Indiana. She later went to North Central University in Minneapolis, Minnesota to get a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. After that she attended Indiana University and obtained her master's and in educational specialist degrees in counseling. She became a guidance counselor because she wanted to have a career that would allow her to make a difference in the world. Ms. Ulloa says that she has a tremendous opportunity to impact the world by helping her students stay on the right track and become productive members of society. This is her 4th year as a guidance counselor. She coaches Varsity Girls soccer, Freshmen Girls basketball, and the SHS Spell Bowl team. She previously worked in financial aid & social work. Ms. Ulloa spends summers working as a drug and alcohol rehabilitiaon counselor. She likes to work with the students and help them plan their futures. Ms. Hoeflinger: Counselor for Students N-Z Ms. Hoeflinger attended Centerville High School in Indiana and then attended Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. Ms. Hoeflinger competed in track and cross country at Taylor University and studied abroad at the Lithuanian Christian College in Klaipeda, Lithuania. While in Lithuania she had the opportunity to work in an orphanage and travel to thirteen different countries. Upon graduation, Ms. Hoeflinger began her teaching career at South Decatur High School in Greensburg, Indiana, where she taught social studies. She received her masters of school counseling from Butler University. Ms. Hoeflinger's hobbies include traveling, running, backpacking, painting, and kayaking. She coaches Cross Country at SHS. Ms. Hoeflinger's favorite thing about working in education is the relationships she has been able to build with students.
