Student Grade Level Classification

Grade level classification at Shelbyville High School is based on the number of semesters of education a student has completed. The chart below illustrates the classification criteria:

Class	Minimum Semesters Completed	Minimum Credits Attained
Freshmen	0 - 1	0
Sophomore	2 -3	6
Junior	4 - 5	18
Senior	6 - 7	30

Reclassification of a student will take place only in the fall of each new school year.

Transfer students entering SHS who do not have official school records indicating their classification will be classified as freshmen. They will be reclassified in accordance with SHS policy when the official records are received.

Seniors who participate in the graduation ceremony will be considered as members of that class. G.P.A. and rank will be based on classes completed by the last day of that school year.

Seniors who do not participate in the graduation ceremony will be included in the next year's senior class.
