I have been told that we can not load any software on our new workstations!  If we get a great new piece of software for our classroom, why can't it be loaded on our computer?

It can!  This is one of those rumors that start that is somewhat true but mostly false.

If there is software that is purchased for instructional use in the classroom, a Shelbyville computer tech can come by to load it on the workstation you are using.  All the tech will ask for is to look at the licensing agreement to make sure that it can be used in an educational setting.

With the new XP operating system, there are some restrictions on what can be added or deleted from the computer.  There are many software titles that would require a tech to install, but that does not mean we are discouraging software from being used.

To be blunt, what we are discouraging is one title being purchased and then all of the sudden that piece of software has been installed on more Shelbyville Central computers than the license allows.

The Tech Department will be more than happy to assist you in installing instructional or educational software on the workstation you are using.
